RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation

Our parish welcomes people seeking entrance to the Roman Catholic Church through a program of prayer, reflection and celebration.  Candidates prepare to receive the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.  Catholics who have received Baptism and wish to complete the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation are also offered formation through this process.  As the candidates grow through a year-long series of informative and formative sessions, they are drawn to a personal relationship with Jesus as members of the initiation team form warm relationships with them.

Opportunities for Service

Director possesses a good familiarity with the Catholic faith. In addition, this leader provides organization and direction for the team, mentoring both sponsors and candidates, offering a deep love for the Church.

Catechists exhibit a great love of Scripture, desiring to link the Word and life for those seeking initiation. At the same time, they develop a lesson of church teaching, drawing from the Scriptures a message for each Sunday.  The catechists themselves need to display a willingness to grow in their own faith.

Sponsors are comfortable with their own life of growth in faith and in church membership, desiring to offer friendship and support to someone seeking membership in the Catholic Church. The best sponsor is someone with an awareness and appreciation of their own journey of faith.
